The Victorian Police Minister, Lisa Neville, has reiterated her support of the state's African community, saying only a small number of people are causing the fear that the prime minister has described as out-of-control gang violence. Ms Neville says the vast majority of the African community are law abiding citizens. She's also defended the government's backing of police, saying it provided an increase in resources requested by police in 2016/17 when the problem was starting to emerge.
