The drama in Canberra doesn't seem to affect the Australian economy very much. businessmen are following what is happening but very few are vocal. Peter Allen, chief executive of ASX-listed company Scentre, which owns Westfield-branded shopping centers around Australia, made a plea for an end to the instability in Canberra.
Sydney Morning Herald quoted him saying ''One of the things that people want is stability in leadership and stability in policy," he said as the company's half-year results released on Tuesday revealed sales growth for retailers barely running ahead of inflation. he then added ''Anything to upset that causes a reflection for what it means for everyday people."
