A teacher from Sydney’s western suburbs has been named one of the top 10 educators in the world.

Tamil Sri Lankan-born Australian Yasodai Selvakumaran has been named a finalist for the $1 million Global Teacher Prize.

The list comprises 10 teachers sapanning 179 countries.
