The Islamic Council of Victoria started a project titled 'My Vote Matters'. It aims at encouraging people of the Muslim faith to take part in the upcoming federal elections in May.
Council vice president Adel Salman says some people think it is prohibited under Islamic law to vote in elections but scholars have refuted that concept.
