Former world cupper Emeka plans to raise fund for Rohingya refugees

Retired Nigerian world cupper Emeka Ezeugo started his club career with East Bengal club in Calcutta and played for Mohammedan club in Dhaka too. Now he is about to raise fund for Rohingya refugees and going to organise charity run and football match for this.

Nigerian soccer player Emeka Ezeugo was not an unknown face in the club football in Bangladesh. The former world cupper (1994) played for Mohammedan club in Dhaka from 1989 to 1990.

Emeka is now on the headlines for his planning for the charity run and football match for Rohingya refugees. He announced his plan to organise a 1500 kms run involving India and Bangladesh which will take place on the third week of April 2018. And the charity football match will be played between the 1994 World Cup stars of Nigeria and Italy squad. Emeka told reporters at the Calcutta Sports’ Journalists Club on Tuesday, 3 April that the match will happen after the World Cup in Russia.

He said, “The match will happen after the World Cub. I might be working for a TV station during the World Cup.”

Emeka said the run will be happened in phases.

“The first phase will be run from Calcutta to Chittagong. The next phases will be Chittagong to Cox Bazaar, Cox Bazaar to Dhaka and the finally from Dhaka to Calcutta,” said Emeka, reports The Hindu.
