The fire has already burned more than 1,000 hectares of bushland around Holsworthy and Menai, and 500 firefighters were tackling it last night.
Visiting the Rural Fire Service headquarters on Sunday, the NSW premier Gladys Berejiklian said, "It's absolutely a miracle that overnight no one has been reported as having serious injury and hundreds of properties have been saved."
"Our focus is on making sure the fire is controlling and protecting all the people and the properties who live in around those suburbs and those communities," said NSW premier.
RFS Commissioner Shane Fitzsimmons has warned risks remained.
He has asked local residents to remain vigilant given winds on the fire ground are expected to reach up to 60km/h later in the day.

One Voyager Point resident, Zafirul Hossain, left his home last night. "I will stay in my home until 11 pm, after that I will go to my sister in law house in Greenacre," he said.
RFS investigators and police are working to establish how the fire was started. NSW Police have declared the area a crime scene though the RFS says it's too early to declare if the blaze was deliberately lit.
