The Australian Government partnered with eight humanitarian agencies to help Rohingya

The Australian Government will work jointly with The Australian Red Cross, Australia for UNHCR, CARE Australia, Caritas Australia, Oxfam Australia, Plan International Australia, Save the Children Australia and World Vision Australia for vulnerable Rohingya in Myanmar and in Bangladesh.

To help Rohingya who need assistance in Myanmar and Bangladesh the Australian Government will be working jointly with eight leading humanitarian agencies, says DFAT.

The Australian Red Cross, Australia for UNHCR, CARE Australia, Caritas Australia, Oxfam Australia, Plan International Australia, Save the Children Australia and World Vision Australia received more than $5.3 million dollars donation from 11 November to 9 December from public.

In response to the crisis, The Australian Government provided $5 million donations to the Australian Red Cross and Australia for UNHCR. That makes the total amount of the joint appeal to more than $10.3 million.

Australia has committed $31.5 million towards relief efforts. since 25 August 2017. Apart from that Australia has provided more than $95 million to respond to humanitarian needs in Myanmar since 2013.

More than 655,000 people from Myanmar have fled to Bangladesh since 25 August 2017. Most of these people arrived with few or no possessions and are reliant on humanitarian aid to survive. Australia is working closely with humanitarian partners to provide assistance to displaced people and host communities in Bangladesh and in Myanmar. These funds will be utilised  to help those vulnerable people. The donations will be spent mostly for the life-saving aid such as provision of shelter, clean water, sanitation, food, health care, psychological first aid and child protection.

Australian assistance is being provided through the World Food Programme (WFP), the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR), the UN Population Fund (UNFPA), the International Organization for Migration (IOM), Australian NGOs and BRAC (the world’s largest NGO).
Most of the displaced Rohingya is living in Cox’s Bazar. Australian Red Cross are helping to operate one field hospital, five mobile and three fixed clinics there with this donation.
