Mahjabeen Ahmad, has received South Australian Governor’s 2016 Multicultural Award

Mahjabeen Ahmad is a dedicated change agent who is committed to creating awareness and greater understanding of aged care issues in the Muslim community in South Australia. She has successfully initiated projects within the aged care industry and with state-level peak bodies to promote her community’s health and aged care needs so that service providers have better understanding to provide culturally appropriate care. She has also been pivotal in building her community’s trust in Australia’s aged care system, and reducing cultural reluctance in accepting support from aged care providers. She has achieved great things in just a few years having arrived in Australia from Bangladesh in 2010.
