High Court's ruling about offshore detention policy

The High Court has thrown out a challenge to the Australian government's offshore detention policy. The test case focused on the plight of a pregnant asylum seeker from Bangladesh, brought to Australia from Nauru because of serious health complications. Speaking ahead of the ruling, Immigration Minister Peter Dutton insisted that the federal government acts in the best interests of asylum seekers brought to Australia from Nauru for medical treatment.
