Hong Kong Government has proposed to amend legislation to extradite fugitives and suspects in criminal cases between Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan and mainland China.
Should this proposal pass into law, we could see the law come into effect as early as the second half of this year.
The policy change is to plug a legal loopholes exposed by a homicide case in February last year in which Taiwanese authorities were unable to prosecute a Hong Kong resident, accused of killing his pregnant girlfriend in Taipei before fleeing to Hong Kong.
