French President Emmanuel Macron has proposed a radical overhaul of the country's government. In a speech laying out his priorities in government at the historic Palace of Versailles, he said he planned to cut the number of lawmakers by a third. He also said he would seek direct approval from voters in a referendum if parliament failed to sign off his intended institutional reforms quickly enough.
