From Monday, 4 January, failing to wear a mask carries a $200 fine. Whereas children under 12 years old are not obliged, where possible, NSW authorities are encouraging everyone to wear one.
All hospitality and casinos staff are also required to wear a mask.
Places of worship, weddings and funerals have been capped at 100 people and have a one-person per four square metre rule imposed. Night clubs have been banned entirely. Gym classes have been reduced to 30 people from 50.
Outdoor performances and protests have been reduced to a maximum of 500 people, and seated, ticketed, and enclosed outdoor gatherings to 2000 people.
