在预算激增330亿澳元之后,澳大利亚联邦政府试图控制开支,将取消对全国各地的通勤停车场、公路升级和快速铁路等项目的资金支持。
吉朗快速铁路(Geelong Fast Rail)、悉尼至纽卡斯尔快速铁路升级项目、新英格兰公路(New England Highway)以及the Truro Bypass等 50 个项目将不再获得联邦政府的资助。
政府还削减了昆州和新州的通勤停车场项目,这些停车场在一份审计长报告中受到批评,被工党称为政治分肥。
基础设施部长凯瑟琳·金(Catherine King)表示,将不再获得资金的项目是那些实际上不太可能利用现有资金交付的项目,它们在很长一段时间内几乎没有取得任何进展,又或者与国家优先事项不符。
日前,她对记者表示:“从现在开始,澳大利亚政府的基础设施投资将重点关注生产力、可持续性和宜居性。”

凯瑟琳·金表示,联邦政府已与各州和领地政府进行了“经过深思熟虑的磋商”。
尽管各司法管辖区的意见并非总是一致,但大家已经制定了一份联邦将能进行合作的项目清单,各州州长和领地领导人应该不会对此感到意外。
“每个州都能从基础设施拨款安排中获得公平的份额,”凯瑟琳·金说。
但是多位州长,包括州州长帕拉什伊 (Annastacia Palaszczuk) 和新州州长柯民思 (Chris Minns) 此前都表示,他们对新安排并不满意,他们州的主要项目的联邦资金被取消。
维州州长杰辛塔·艾伦(Jacinta Allan)上周表示,联邦政府承诺向维州项目投入的资金都应留在该州。

昆州财长卡梅伦·迪克(Cameron Dick)也表示不满。
“我们向凯瑟琳·金传达的信息是:对昆州要更像对待澳大利亚航空一样,而不是像对卡塔尔航空公司那样,”他在X(之前的推特)上写道,指的是有批评人士质疑她对这家澳大利亚航空公司的优待。
有大约400个项目仍能获得联邦资金。这些项目预计在未来10年内完工或取得实质性进展,其中包括澳大利亚中部的塔纳米路(Tanami Road)升级项目和 M1 Pacific Motorway扩建项目。
总额1200亿澳元的基础设施建设计划总体上没有削减。
政府还将给11个项目提供额外资金,包括南澳州的南北交通廊道(North-South Corridor)(27亿澳元)、昆州的洛根至黄金海岸快速铁路(Logan-Gold Coast Faster Rail)(17.5亿澳元)和西澳州的Metronet项目(10亿澳元)。
一些附近的项目将被归入交通廊道项目中,另一些项目则将被进行商业探讨,同时剩余的现金将留作未来建设之用。
