玉林狗肉节——吃狗肉是风俗习惯吗？

在中国广西玉林，夏至的到来也意味着一年一度狗肉节的开始。每到这时，玉林著名的狗肉餐厅总是门庭若市，而餐厅门外有关风俗习惯与动物保护的争论也由此爆发。

国际人道协会（Humane Society International）Peter Li博士表示，十年前广西玉林并没有吃狗肉的节日，狗肉节是当地商贩在近年炒作而来。在玉林狗肉节鼎盛时期，狗肉商贩曾将活狗放在笼中供购买者挑选，并当街宰杀。街头巷尾，狗狗的惨叫声也是此起彼伏。近些年，当地政府迫于舆论压力，已对当街宰杀狗只的行为进行整改。但一年一度的狗肉节依然吸引大批猎奇民众前往围观。

李博士表示，希望有关政府能拿出决心，彻底取缔狗肉节，同时为狗肉商贩提供帮助，协助他们转变职业。他7月5日出席在悉尼大学举办的第27届国际人道动物学年会，并发表相关演讲。

李博士称，宰杀的狗只中，有很多是偷盗得来，且已感染严重的皮肤疾病。这不仅会使狗肉市场存在违法行为，也会严重危害食用者的身体健康。而宰杀者一旦被病狗咬伤，也会存在极高的感染狂犬病的风险。

今年的玉林狗肉节，国际人道协会中国区合作小组，就拯救出了135条狗只。这些狗只品种各异，不难看出都是家养的宠物狗。而在被不法之徒捕捉之后，很多狗只神情低落，甚至感染上疾病。救援小组已将这些狗只送往宠物医院接受治疗。
