Last November, Dr. James Hunter and his team traveled to Robe (SA) to search for the wreck of the 19th century Dutch ship King Willem II. Unfortunately, the weather threw a spanner in the works, and high waves only allowed them to go out to sea for one day. The good news is that the detector did pick up a strong signal, so the team is hopeful for part two of the search, next weekend.
Dr. James Hunter is Curator of Naval Heritage and Archaeology at the Australian National Maritime Museum in Sydney.
