We travel to Denmark and investigate the success behind Danish Nordic Noir Television. We meet Jeppe Gjervig Gram, co-creator of Borgen. Sara Blaedel, considered the queen of Danish crime writing, shares her love for Agatha Christie. We also talk with Professor Anne Marit Waade about the history and aesthetics of Nordic Noir.
Sara Blaedel is the creator of the Detective Louise Rick series. A former journalist, Blaedel had the vision of becoming a crime writer whilst on skiing holiday in Norway. Voted Denmark’s most popular writer four times, her books have been published in 33 countries
Jeppe Gjervig Gram received a BAFTA for his work as screen writer for the international hit series Borgen. Previously a script consultant for the Danish National Broadcaster DR, in 2016, Gram was the head writer for the TV drama Follow The Money.
Anne Marit Waade is Associate Professor in the Department of Information and Media Studies at Aarhus University, Dnmark. Her research includes Crime Fiction and Crime Journalism in Scandinavia and What makes Danish Crime Drama Travel.
