NAIDOC week in Australia celebrates the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, the First Peoples. Not all the wrongs of the last two centuries have been addressed and still today many of our First Peoples struggle in reprehensible disadvantages with 1 in every 17 Aboriginal deaths a suicide.

NAIDOC week in Australia celebrates the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, the First Peoples. Not all the wrongs of the last two centuries have been addressed and still today many of our First Peoples struggle in reprehensible disadvantages with 1 in every 17 Aboriginal deaths a suicide.


Greek Australian Gerry Georgatos who works at the forefront of suicide and acute poverty with the National Trauma Recovery and Suicide Prevention Project argues we are all brothers and sisters and we must be there for one another.

He believes completing education is one way forward to reduce suicides and poverty levels for the next generation of our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander siblings.
