Multicultural Museums Victoria (MMV) was commended for its unique alliance between five museums in Melbourne – the Chinese Museum, Hellenic Museum, Co.As.It Italian Historical Society & Museo Italiano, Islamic Museum of Australia and the Jewish Museum of Australia.
MMV launched its inaugural project, ‘Grandmothers’, stories of grandmothers from across Melbourne. Because of the universal appeal of the theme, and because of its warm emotional associations, ‘Grandmothers’ provided an extremely accessible encounter with cultural difference, and opportunities to develop intercultural interaction, understanding and appreciation.
