A growing number of young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are reaping the benefits of an impactful Aboriginal Employment Strategy school-based traineeship to kick start their careers.

Forty-five (45) trainees in all recently graduated from their programs in 2020 at ceremonies held in Newcastle, Sydney, Port Macquarie, Moree, Coffs Harbour, Dubbo, Tamworth and Brisbane.

“It’s an impressive show of resilience, commitment and grit to see so many young Indigenous people across the country successfully complete their traineeship in such an unpredictable and chaotic 2020," - Aboriginal Employment Strategy  CEO Kristy Masella said.

The Aboriginal Employment Strategy (AES) has more than 50 new school based traineeship opportunities available for 2021.

The program offers coaching and mentoring as well as an industry recognised qualification, together with hands-on paid work experience with participating employers across a range of sectors and industries.
