The year was 1868 and a group of 13 Aboriginal men from the Victorian western district sailed to England to play cricket and to be the very first Australian sporting team to represent Australia.

For the Australian to England cricket tour the men were coached and captained by Charles Lawrence an ex- England cricketer.

Australian cricket is now recognising Indigenous players and more than 150 years later Cricket Australia is trying to rebuild a connection with heritage that had been lost for so many years.
