In this episode of the NITV podcast we meet the dedicated women who are working hard to try and get birthing services on country on the remote community of Galiwinku on Elcho island in the Northern Territory. In this NITV podcast episode we bring you the story of passionate women who want change in their community so local Yolngu women can have the opportunity to give birth on country. We explore the research already done and take a look at how the Birthing On Country is an international movement and how it can work on a local level. The overall aim is to have the return of birthing services back in to remote Aboriginal communities for aboriginal mothers and we take a look at how important this cultural connection is for mother and baby. In this podcast you’ll meet Dr Sarah Ireland, Associate Professor Elaine Lawurrpa Maypilama Professor Sue Kildea and Associate Professor Yvette Rowe from The Molly Wardaguga Research Centre.
