Vivid festival hosts artists for social change

As part of Vivid Visual Arts Festival in Sydney, Young Artist Marwa charmand was chosen to present a series of paintings to illustrate some of war and conflict moments around the world.


As part of Vivid Visual Arts Festival in Sydney, Young Artist Marwa charmand was chosen to present a series of paintings to illustrate some of war and conflict moments around the world.Four paintings of Ms Charmand will be participating at 107 Gallery in Redfern Sydney.Marwas paintings are an updated version of artist Kathe Kollwitz war series. Ms Kollwitz is known for her war masterpieces over more than 100 years.Both artists Marwa Charmand and Kathe Kollwitz paintings focus on war events and the time it took place.The aim of these pieces is to show the similarity between the sentiments and the effects of war in the society back before 100 years ago and the present.Marwa completed her Advanced Diploma in Fine Arts in 2011 and has enhanced her education by completing a Bachelor degree of Design (Visual Communication) with honors from Western Sydney University.

In 2011 she was selected as one of eight women in Australia to participate in No Added Sugar festival.Artist Marwa Charmand will tell us more about her artistic journey and her participation in Vivid Sydney Festival.
