  • Victoria has recorded 37,994 new COVID-19 cases while NSW has reported 25,870.
  • In Victoria, there are 861 patients in hospital, 43 more than the previous day, including 117 in ICU and 27 on ventilation.
  • Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews says around 34,000 free rapid antigen tests were handed out at 56 state testing clinics on Monday.
  • Mr Andrews says there are 3,992 hospital workers and 422 Ambulance Victoria staff who are unavailable due to being either positive with the virus or a close contact of a case.
  • He also announced a $4 million program to help GPs and community pharmacies go into schools after hours to deliver vaccines.
  • In NSW, there are 2,186 people in hospital with COVID-19, including 170 in ICU.
  • High levels of T-cells from common cold coronaviruses can provide protection against the virus, an Imperial College London study published has found.
  • A new survey of 1000 aged care workers conducted by the Health Services Union found staff were dealing with severe understaffing and excessive workloads during the new phase of the pandemic.
  • Australian Council of Trade Unions Secretary Sally McManus wrote to Prime Minister Scott Morrison overnight with a list of demands warning an "unofficial lockdown" was hurting affected workers.
  • The NSW government wants to make residents report positive rapid antigen test results, saying a mandate will give authorities a clear picture of the spread.
  • There are fears an outbreak at Sydney's Villawood detention centre could intensify as refugee advocates question why detainees remain in such a high-risk environment.
A number of states have set up RAT registration forms.
