- Australian health authorities have ruled out a travel ban from South Africa for now as a new and concerning COVID-19 variant emerged in the country. The new variant, Mu, or B.1.621, has a number of mutations that suggest it could be more resistant to vaccines.
- Victoria has ended its permit system for domestic travellers.
- NSW’s additional Dine & Discover vouchers can be claimed from today onwards. The scheme has been extended up to 30th June 2022.
- Queensland says it cannot ‘open floodgates’ even after 80 per cent vaccination targets, as it needs to protect the remaining 20 per cent and children under 12.
- Amnesty International Australia says it is ‘disappointed’ that Amnesty International UK chose to spread false information regarding the role of Australian Defence Forces in relief work being carried out in COVID-hit Northern Territory.
