Melburnians are feeling the burden of hayfever earlier than in the past few years and that isn't a good sign of what's to come.
Heavy rainfall has promoted grass growth and led to two high pollen count days in the past week, according to University of Melbourne's School of Botany.
Hayfever expert Ed Newbigin on Friday told AAP this season will most likely be the worst since 2011 and suggests hayfever sufferers keep an eye on daily pollen forecasts.
