Why should I know my English level?
Knowing your English level helps you choose learning materials that match your skills. It can also show where you are confident and where you may need more support.
What is the difference between easy (beginner), medium (intermediate) and advanced English?
SBS Learn English uses 6 languages areas to determine a level. Factors such as speed, length and vocabularly are all considered together to determine the English level.

The levels can be roughly aligned with the following frameworks:
Easy - CEFR A1- to A2+ / IELTS1.0 to 3.0
Medium - CEFR B1- to B2+ / IELTS 4.0 - 6.5
Advanced - CEFR C1- to C2 / IELTS 7.0 - 9.0
Is this an official English test?
No. SBS Learn English content is designed to complement existing learning by providing helpful conversational lessons in an Australian context.
Are free online English tests accurate?
Free online tests can give a useful guide to your English level, but they are not formal certificates. Official tests such as IELTS or TOEFL are usually required for study or migration. Online quizzes are best used as a starting point to understand your current skills.
