Submit your podcast idea to SBS

Luciana Fraguas, producer with SBS Portuguese Source: SBS

SBS is commissioning new ideas from diverse Australian podcasters, providing funding to produce distinctive podcast ideas for SBS.

SBS is continually building our slate of podcasts that feature diverse Australian voices and align with the SBS Charter

Since the launch of the network's first podcast in 2008, SBS' audio output has grown to include podcasts in more than 60 languages. SBS produces award-winning and popular podcast series that are downloaded by millions of Australians each year, including Eyes on GileadSBS News in DepthMy Arab IdentityThe Uluru Statement from the Heart in your language and NITV’s Take It Blak. To explore the full range of SBS’s existing podcasts, download the SBS Radio app from the Apple App store or Google Play.

SBS welcomes podcast pitches from the public for original podcast series in any genre, language and format. Ideas should align with SBS’ duties under the SBS Charter; to inform, educate and entertain all Australians, and in doing so, reflect Australia’s multicultural society. We invite submissions from people of all backgrounds including First Nation's creatives.

We are open to receiving submissions year round, but are limited in the number of projects we take on. Submit your idea using the form below and if we are interested in discussing your idea further, someone from the SBS Audio & Language podcast team will be in touch.

If you have any questions, please email the team at audio@sbs.com.au

Tips for pitching your podcast idea to SBS

  • Keep it short, starting with a one sentence ‘elevator pitch’ that explains your concept.
  • Read the SBS Charter and consider how your project aligns with SBS' principal functions.
  • Diversity and inclusivity are priorities for SBS. We therefore expect that diversity is reflected in your project. For example, for content relating to Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander peoples we expect that 2 out of 3 key creative roles would be filled by Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people.
  • SBS publishes podcasts that are multilingual, in a language other than English, or in English.
  • If you would like to provide an audio file with your submission (a short trailer, pilot, or an example of your previous work), please email a download link to audio@sbs.com.au with your podcast title and 'Audio example' in the subject line.
