To mark the 20th anniversary of the movement that began in Sydney in 2007, WWF-Australia is launching "Challenge 60" to combat the devastating loss of 30 soccer fields of forest every hour.

Key Points
  • What started as a local Sydney initiative has grown into a 190-country movement reaching its 20th year of climate advocacy.
  • Expert warnings reveal that 500 native species are threatened every 60 minutes as Australia loses forest areas equivalent to 30 soccer fields.
  • The traditional March 28 "switch off" now includes a 28-day physical activity challenge to fund reforestation and marine sanctuary expansion.
