The Philippine Labour Attache to Australia, Melissa Mendizabal, and the Migrant Workers Office in Canberra remind Filipinos with Australian working visas to prepare the right documents, such as the Overseas Employment Certificate (OEC), to ensure a smooth holiday in the Philippines and a trouble-free return to Australia.

Key Points
  • OEC Requirement: Overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) on certain Australian working visas must secure an OEC, which confirms verified employment contracts and is checked by Philippine immigration upon departure.
  • Risk of Offloading: Travellers without an OEC or verified contracts risk being stopped at immigration in Manila, causing delays and cancelled flights.
  • Balik Manggagawa Program: Returning workers are advised to register under the “Balik Manggagawa” process for smoother clearance and to contact the Migrant Workers Office in Canberra for assistance and outreach schedules.
