Global coronavirus tally passes 50 million

The number of coronavirus infections around the world has passed 50 million, with October being the worst month for the pandemic so far.


Highlights
  • The latest figures come as Europe's second wave records the highest number of new cases.
  • More than 50 million ((50,262,472)) cases, including 1.2 million deaths ((1,254,194)) deaths, have been recorded globally since the pandemic erupted in China in December last year.
  • Europe, with 12.6 million confirmed cases, has once again become the pandemic's most active region.
