Dr. Earl Pantillano never imagined that his experience serving remote communities in Mindanao through the Doctors to the Barrio program in the Philippines would one day lead him to Australia, where he now dedicates his life to caring for First Nations communities.
Key Points
- Dr. Earl Pantillano, originally from Sta. Mesa, Manila, earned his medical degree from Davao Medical School Foundation and became a licensed doctor in 2001.
- Driven by a desire to give back, he joined medical missions alongside fellow physicians and spent several years serving remote communities in Mindanao through the Doctors to the Barrio program in the Philippines.
- In 2022, he began caring for First Nations communities in Cape York before eventually serving in Charleville, Queensland, nearly 900 kilometres away from his home.

Every time I was returning from serving First Nations communities, I came home feeling lighter. Even when I was the only doctor there, I felt fulfilled knowing I was able to help in my own small way.Dr Earl Pantillano, GP in Indigenous communities, Australia
