Labor has completed what's known as a clean sweep of politics across mainland Australia, after the New South Wales state election result. The result also ends a 12 year-period in opposition for New South Wales Labor.

Key Points
  • The New South Wales Australian Labor Party (ALP) won the minimum 47 seats required to form government.
  • State Labor leader Chris Minns will be NSW's 47th Premier. While outgoing premier Dominic Perrottet confirms he's stepping down as Liberal leader.
  • Tasmania is the only Australian jurisdiction without a Labor government in power.
