How Filipino seniors embraced technology and became digitally connected

Many Filipino seniors in Melbourne became digitally equipped through one-on-one tutorials with digital mentors. They were taught to become familiar with the computer, smartphone and navigate the internet.

  • In 2018 the Filipino community was part of the Australian Government's 'Be Connected Program'.
  • It made the lives easier for many Filipino seniors particularly during the pandemic in 2000. They remained connected with family and friends during lockdown.
  • While many were initially overwhelmed with fear with patience, perseverance and determination they are now 'digitally connected'.
  • At present, they are now focused on learning about on-line safety and how to spot scams.
