Many Filipinos in Australia face serious difficulties after losing their visa or legal status. For some, becoming undocumented leads to fear, loss of employment, and concerns about safety and security. In these situations, the Philippine government provides assistance to Filipinos through its foreign service posts.

Key Points
  • The Philippine Consulate Offices and Embassies may assist in facilitating a Filipino’s return to the Philippines, including documentation and coordination with relevant agencies.
  • Assistance to Nationals (ATN) is a program designed to assist Filipinos overseas who are in distress or vulnerable situations.
  • ATN assistance is free of charge. Filipinos are advised to be cautious of individuals falsely claiming to represent the Consulate and asking for payment in exchange for help.
