Human rights law advocate Ross Tugade says a better understanding of international human rights law is essential as the Philippines faces challenges in its international relations and law.

Tugade worked at the Human Rights Victims Claims Board and Commission on Human Rights in the Philippines, helping victims of mass atrocities to claim reparations and afford legal due process.
She also worked as a consultant for an international non-profit, helping train investigators and local justice actors in the context of mass atrocities in North Korea and the war in Ukraine.
Tugade explains the importance of understanding international human rights law and standards and adopting it to the Philippine legal education and justice system.
