A new report shows the changing priorities for Australians when it comes to their workplace arrangements. It reveals people are putting more emphasis on how their employers give them the flexibility they need to make room for other aspects of their life without running the risk of burning out.

Key Points
  • Less than 30 percent of the workforce now work part-time and there's been a corresponding increase in those that work full-time, as well as an increase in the prevalence of flexible work arrangements among those that work full-time according to the report from the Workplace Gender Equality Agency and the Bankwest Curtin Economics Centre.
  • Australia has one of the highest rates of part-time workers among all nations in the OECD. Yet the share of women in those roles has dropped by a 3.2 percent in the last couple of years.
  • Full-time positions that allow flexible working arrangements have shot up by 2.3 per cent within the same time frame.
