Darwin-based Ron Olabe opened his sports massage clinic in September 2019 after his employer filed for bankruptcy which led to absorbing their clients.

A total of 162,000 people were employed in the sports and recreation activities industry in 2023 Australia, according to IBISWorld.
To start his business, Olabe converted his granny flat residence into a clinic where he placed a second hand hydraulic table and chairs amounting to $700.
From booking appointments and posting available slots, Facebook or Meta was the main platform used for his business - Olabe Sports Massage and Remedial Bodyworks.
