At only 22 years old, Julia Di Pascuale has built her cafe around an eclectic menu of Filipino and Italian favourites that she says should be treated "equally".

Key Points
  • Julia Di Pascuale was born of a Filipino mum and and Italian dad.
  • Di Pascuale has been working in hospitality since she was a teenager.
  • Her menu is a mix of Filipino and Italian food, drinks and ingredients and, says that both cuisines need to be given the same level of appreciation and respect.
If you're going to sell something like ube, talk about its history. Not only is it important for the business, it's important to recognise its connection to the Philippines. It's not just this Instagram-able thing. It's people's livelihood.
