SBS Filipino interviewed Fil Mango owner Miguel Ripoll, who detailed the logistical factors driving up the cost of Philippine carabao mangoes in Australia and the measures being taken to lower retail prices.

Key Points

  • The initial shipments of the fresh premium fruit is set to arrive this June 2026, marking a significant milestone for local distribution.
  • Distribution is prioritising Queensland to satisfy the long-standing demand of the local Filipino community, with plans to expand to other states.
  • Alongside fresh table mangoes, there are plans to import "culinary grade" mangoes to supply local restaurants and dessert makers at a lower cost.
Sa umpisa talagang mahal ang presyo [ng mangga], because we had a hard time doing the entire process, it wasn't very efficient, pero kahit ganoon naubos naman yung stock. Although having said that, my objective is that people can really afford to get more mangoes, so I try to make it more efficient.
