Wie feiern wir diesmal Weihnachten?

PRODUCTION - 12 November 2025, Saxony, Seiffen: Carola Seifert paints nutcrackers in the workshop of wooden toy maker Markus Füchtner in Seiffen. The small business is now in its eighth generation of turning the grim fellows. Füchtner's great-great-great-grandfather is said to have invented the Erzgebirge nutcracker, which is now made by numerous artisans in the region and adorns many parlors at Christmas. The craftsmanship, which was ennobled as intangible cultural heritage in spring, has its center especially in Seiffen. The tranquil mountain town near the border with the Czech Republic is transformed every year during the Advent season into a destination for thousands of visitors who stroll through the stores and workshops looking for gifts and decorations.
