Artificial Intelligence: Who regulates what?

The use of artificial intelligence (AI) is growing exponentially. But how will these new technologies benefit mankind and who regulates it? Steve Crown (Microsoft), Kobi Leins (University of Melbourne) and Elizabeth Kelly (Federal Department of Industry, Innovation and Science) discussed the controversial topic at a keynote event in Melbourne, organised by CEDA.

The keynote event was held on 26 July at the Grand Hyatt Melbourne. SBS German interviewed Ms Leins, a second-generation German migrant.

Ms Leins is researching and writing a PhD at the Melbourne Law School. Her focus are legal issues particular to military use of "nano"-enhanced weapons.

The interview offers some fascinating insights into the AI revolution, its technical aspects, scope and human rights considerations.

It will air on SBS Radio's German program next week. A podcast will be made available here.

CEDA is the Committee for Economic Development of Australia.
