Dream start for Socceroo (and new father!) Matthew Leckie in Berlin

New father Matthew Leckie has celebrated his debut at Hertha BSC Berlin with two beautiful goals against Stuttgart (2:0) - in what the Australian has described as one of the best weeks of his life.

The dream debut completes a memorable week for the 27-year-old Socceroo, who became a father a week ago when his German partner Laura gave birth to their daughter, Olivia Valentina.

“I’ll be going straight home to the baby,” the Australia striker told Hertha TV on Saturday afternoon when asked how he would celebrate his double at Olympic Stadium, in BSC's season opener.

The Socceroos forward, who joined from Ingolstadt in the off-season, eluded a defender with a clever flick and finished in style just after the restart, then blasted home from close range in the 62nd minute after Stuttgart failed to clear a corner.
