From today: New 10 dollar note in Australia

The Reserve Bank has launched the new generation $10 banknote into general circulation today. It includes tactile features for the blind and vision-impaired communities. But will it work in our snack vending machines?

The new banknote joins the recently released $5 note - which also has two raised bumps on each long edge to help people with poor (or no) sight - and was the result of campaigning by Vision Australia together with a petition from a NSW teenager.

The blind teenager Connor McLeod (pictured below) started petitioning the Reserve Bank at age 12 to introduce tactile banknotes. His input was crucial in forcing the Reserve Bank's hand, and has been lauded by other disability organisations.
