German Unity Day in Mainz: We are strong together!

German Unity Day (3 October) celebrates the anniversary of German reunification in 1990. This year's central festivities are held in Mainz. Up to 500,000 people are expected to congregate in the 2000-year old city.

The official slogan of the two-day "Bürgerfest" is "Zusammen sind wir Deutschland". Mainz was chosen because it's the capital of Rhineland Palatinate - the "Bundesland" of the President of the Federal Council, Malu Dreyer.
