Every Thursday evening, some for Australian ears unfamiliar sound can be head at the German Club in Brisbane. While others are having dinner with pork knuckle and meat loaf, the “Die Alpenrosen Dance Group” is rehearsing in the large hall.
There is a shoeplattler, some cheering and the sound of cow bells. Bavarian culture has a tradition here - although all 28 members are Australian. SBS correspondent Katharina Loesche visited the colorful troupe and dared to take on the unusual instrument.
