The new year is sneaking up on us and with it the same, old but good intentions: more sport, less stress, a relaxed mind and body, and so on... But: Where is the motivation to exercise? Excuses are no longer available with Beer Yoga.


This trend has literally spilled from Germany to Australia:

With both - yoga and beer - people have been relaxing for centuries body and mind.

"The exuberance that comes with drinking beer and the body awareness of yoga can be combined into an energising experience," said native Australian Emily Casey, who has made it popular in Berlin, Germany.

From a sports science point of view, beer yoga is not really recommended, as alcohol and sport simply do not go together.

But, what does that mean? In Beer and Now, our Queensland correspondent Katharina Loesche went to the Brathaus, Brisbane's first Beer Yoga studio, among other yogis. No easy exercise for her to figure out: trend sport or crazy idea?
