Christoph Angerer is co-founder of Concilium musicum Wien, a classical ensemble founded in 1982 which plays timeless music on authentic period instruments. SBS German invited Angerer for a candid talk about the past, present and future of a genre which some say will not survive.

Classical music is facing severe headwinds. Fewer people than ever are purchasing CDs, and concert promoters have trouble attracting a younger audience. But Angerer is an optimist – he believes the alluring beauty of Haydn, Mozart and others will always carry the day. Is he right?
