In the 2016 census, 80,000 Australians said they spoke German at home. Figures for 2021 will be released in June 2022, but the omens are bad. Just one example: The median age of migrants born in Germany in 2016 was almost twice as high (65 years) as that of the entire Australian population (38 years). What does that mean for our community?
