The "Orff Schulwerk" combines music, movement, drama and speech into lessons that appeal to the child's world of play, namely hearing, seeing and feeling.
The concept was born in Munich, Germany in the 1920s and 30s, and quickly spread around the world. Its creators were Carl Orff ("Carmina Burana") and Gunild Keetman.
Christoph Maubach (pictured) lectured at ACU for 30 years before moving to Waikato University in Hamilton, New Zealand. He now lives on a sustainable farm in the country's far North region.
