'Curly hair is very important for our identity': A film about cultural and hair roots

We have just celebrated International Women's Day, and are heading straight to the Melbourne Women in Film Festival next week. We had the pleasure of welcoming one of the film makers to our studio, Hamburg-born and half-Brazilian Larissa Hass. Larissa spoke to us about beauty ideals around afro-textured hair and and self-acceptance.

Larissa's short film Beyond The Curl, which she produced as a university project together with two fellow students, is about hairdresser Ella Rowe, who has turned her passion for afro-textured hair into a profession.
